Classes will resume in-person on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

We made this difficult decision based on several factors: Kennedy students’ COVID-19 positivity rate, staff absences and positivity rate, substitute staff availability and end-of-quarantine timelines. Most staff members will return from isolation or quarantine next week on Tuesday.

What to expect: Students will bring home their school-issued Chromebooks today. They should connect through Google Classroom, follow their regular bell schedule and be in class on time. They should complete assigned work and participate in assigned activities. Students should expect to complete five hours of instruction or school work each day, and reach out to teachers when they have questions or need support.

Wi-Fi connection: If you need support connecting to Wi-Fi, contact your school for help applying for RPS 205-sponsored Internet access.

Meals: Nutrition Services staff plan to send breakfast and lunch items home today with students for both Thursday and Friday. Students who were absent from school today can stop by Kennedy from 3-6 p.m. Thursday to pick up meals.

Other materials: If needed, Kennedy students and families can pick up Chromebooks or materials from Kennedy from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Free COVID-19 tests will be available to any RPS 205 students from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn High School, Two-Way Language Immersion at Barbour, Roosevelt Community Education Center; and Friday at Eisenhower Middle School, Flinn Middle School and West Middle School.

We know this is a difficult time. Our teachers and staff are doing everything possible to keep students safe, healthy and learning with live, real-time instruction and connection.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Sincerely,

Treveda Redmond
