Meet the Principal
Treveda is blessed with two amazing children, Jalon and Jayme Redmond.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and finding new experiences. If she was a theme song, she would be “I am a Survivor”, as Treveda is a 6-year breast cancer survivor and enjoys living life to the fullest.
Treveda began her educational career at Northern Illinois University where she received her B.S. in Education, M.S. in Educational Leadership (Type 75), and Director of Special Education Certificate. Currently, Treveda is pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Northern Illinois University.
Teaching is something that runs deep in her veins from a family of educators. She has been in the world of education for almost 19 years. Treveda started her career teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Clinton Rosette Middle School in DeKalb, Illinois. After receiving her administrative degree, Treveda progressed in a series of increasing administrative roles, culminating with her current role as Principal of Kennedy Middle School in Rockford, Illinois. Treveda brought her theme of “Whatever It Takes” with her to this role.
Treveda believes and demonstrates whatever it takes to leave her todays better than her yesterdays, and setting the stage for even better tomorrows for herself and those she serves. Within the lens of education is also a burning desire to ensure that she advocates for supporting the “whole” child in the educational realm. This desire has led to her efforts to secure supports and services that help educate all aspects of a child’s educational needs. She has spearheaded several initiatives at Kennedy to address just such needs, among them a volunteer hair care station, and securing a host of salon and barber hair experts that have graciously donated time and effort to help her students look and feel their best. She believes that when students feel good about themselves, they perform at a higher rate.
